Clemson, South Carolina ranked by Forbes 12th in the Country as the Best Place to Retire

The 25 best places to retire in the USA have been published by Forbes and not surprisingly Clemson, South Carolina secured position 12, overall.

Our low cost of living, four moderate seasons, pristine lakes and the proximity to the Blue Ridge Mountains, all play a role.

Forbes weighed data on nearly 500 cities from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The most important factors were economic: overall cost of living and home prices as compared with national averages, and general state tax climate for retirees.

Retirees now want to keep fit and active. So Forbes looked at ratings for attributes that encourage an active retirement, such as  boating, biking, hiking and walking.

College towns, which often provide enhanced cultural and sports related  opportunities for their communities were also  a factor.

Finally water and mountain environments, promoting a healthy outdoor lifestyle rounded out the list.
